Understanding wins repetition

There seems to be an abundance of thought and ideas in human databases. Books, blogs, Wikipedia, Youtube, articles and so on. You can indulge in ideas for a lifetime.

However, whenever you encounter a thought or idea and only read it to mirror it forward — it is a waste of time. What does it mean to mirror an idea? Well, that is when you only copy something and spread it forward.

Is it not better to understand the argument for yourself? More like translating it for yourself — then you can speak it from the heart and not from memory. Speaking from memory is generally a bad thing, it is not as flexible. If you understand something, you can say it in many ways depending on the situation.

Have you ever had a bad professor or teacher? Someone who is simply relating fact after fact without actually knowing what they are talking about? It is usually really obvious when that is the case — especially compared to a good teacher who speaks from the heart — passionate. There is huge difference is there not?

You should read ideas and thoughts in order to become the good teacher. Understand. If you are simply reading for facts it is not worthwhile. Instead try to translate everything you read into your own mind, for yourself only. If you have the time to think about what you are reading, it is worthwhile reading.

Otherwise it is probably autopilot indulgence in entertainment. Which is fine — just know the difference.
