Reasons to write
(1) Repeat things worth repeating
Much of what I write has probably been said before somewhere. However, people (including myself) tend not to learn the first time around. Sometimes you need to be exposed to the same ideas many times before truly considering them. This makes it easier for me to write whatever without the expectation of it having to be “new”. Anyone can learn from it, including myself — it doesn’t matter if it has been said before.
(2) Keep a memory bank of thoughts and ideas
Memory is not the most reliable — so writing is a good way to store keys to specific ideas. Then, simply glancing through the topics written is enough to trigger that memory. Sort of like keys.
(3) Express myself in words
When formulating thoughts into words they tend to crystallize in a positive way. Anything that hasn’t been thought through will usually end up hazy on paper. So this is a way for me to test any thoughts I have. Additionally, I might learn a thing or two about writing and expressing myself.
(4) Writing is fun
For me, sometimes, writing is a very enjoyable process. It is simply something I like to do.
