The do something principle

When I read about this principle I realized my math teacher actually told me the same thing. When unsure of how approach a problem — just start doing it. Write it down on paper and that simple act will inspire more thought and help you to solve it.

This applies to most things — when unsure of how to proceed we tend to procrastinate — not do anything at all. The opposite has a tremendous effect — do something, almost anything! Far too many times I don’t feel excited or motivated and thus end up not doing anything.

By doing we become motivated — not the other way around. If you start doing your mind becomes focused on the task at hand — and inspiration will flow. There is some truth in the “Do something” principle. Just do it.
