A good place to make notes
Recently I moved around some furniture in my flat. This resulted in a new layout and a pleasant surprise I did not expect.
I’ve had a whiteboard in my room for a year or so where I write down quick thoughts that come to mind.
After moving around furniture, the new position of my bed is right under that white board — as opposed to the other side of the room it used to be. Two weeks later I noticed I’ve been filling the whiteboard with text and images at a much faster rate than usual.
Upon closer examination of why this is, I realized most of the notes are ones I put down when I was falling asleep — or clearing my mind before bed. It seems like that is a time for me when a lot of ideas spring to mind — and having the whiteboard right beside me on the bed made me write them down more often.
I haven’t gotten more ideas to write down — I believe I’ve had the same amount before — but the threshold to get out of bed and walk to the whiteboard had been too big.
So where is the best place to make notes? In your bed before bedtime! You probably don’t need a whiteboard for this, just pen and paper would suffice. Additional bonus is that once you write down something you stop thinking about it — which makes falling asleep easier.
