Interesting chinese word for crisis 危機 = crisis + change point

--

The chinse word for crisis is composed of two words:

According to Wikipedia: ‘danger’ (wēi, ) and ‘opportunity’ (, ; ). The second character is a component of the Chinese word for opportunity (jīhuì, 机会; 機會), but has multiple meanings, and in isolation means something more like ‘change point’.

In essence, a time of crisis is also a time of opportunity and change. This falls well in line with an earlier post regarding antifragility and why stress is a good thing.

Thanks for reading.
